Mrs. Madeline Bennett Daniel

Mrs. Madeline Daniel was born the 10th of October, 1925 in a small farm house located in Grayson, Georgia, not far from the current location of the Methodist church. She was the only child of James Grover Bennett and Jonnie Lee Ford Bennett. Her early years of life were spent in East Atlanta, where she attended Anne E. West Elementary School, and later on, Girls High School, downtown Atlanta. In high school, she was an avid tennis player and a majorette, serving in the band. At 17 Madeline met Quenton Daniel, who was on leave from his military service in the US Army, in Atlanta. He was serving as an usher at one of the old theaters that she attended for an event. They dated, fell in love, and were married subsequently on New Year’s Eve in 1942 in Decatur, Alabama. They continued and lived in Alabama, where Quenton was serving in the military. Once he was discharged, they relocated to the Atlanta area, and settled there, where they began their life together, and had a son, Barry. Madeline was employed by the First National Bank of Atlanta, where she worked as a manager in the Trust department. In the late 60’s, she retired and relocated from Atlanta, to Lake Lanier, where she lived for over 25 years. Madeline’s favorite past times were fishing, camping, and sports. She spent many countless hours on a dock, or in a boat, trying to catch the largest fish ever with her husband, her parents, and her son. She and Quenton joined a large resort campground in Helen, GA, where they frequently spent weeks on end enjoying their retirement they earned after their years of work. She also spent countless hours of work, time, and love participating in the sports lives of her son and grandchildren. She was there and always being vocal and she was very competitive. Madeline is remembered by her family members and friends as a wonderful, caring, and compassionate friend. She was always there, always caring, and always helping any way she could. She was also a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. A true and gracious friend to all. Her warm smile and beautiful blue eyes will be missed. Madeline is survived by her son, Barry Daniel of Maysville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her memorial service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 7th at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Mr. Mark Garrison officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 10-11 AM. The family has requested to omit flowers, donations made to the Kindred Gentiva Hospice: 3350 Riverwood Parkway, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30339. Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce is in charge of arrangements
